Ridge Ranch Celebrates Lunar New Year

Students had a wonderful time learning about the traditions of this special holiday observed in many cultures.
They discovered that during the Lunar New Year, children pay their respects to their elders through bows or greetings and, in return, receive special gifts. In Chinese culture, these gifts are called “hóngbāo” (red envelopes), symbolizing blessings for luck and prosperity. In Korean culture, they’re known as “sebaetdon”, given after children perform a bow called “sebae” to honor their elders. In Vietnamese culture, these envelopes are called “lì xì”, representing wishes for health, happiness, and success in the year ahead. We’re so proud to embrace and honor the diverse traditions in the RR school community. Here’s to a year filled with joy and prosperity for all!
